Formatting and structure of medical essays

A thought has arisen and I would like to hear your opinion on this matter. I am currently working on a medical essay and trying to understand what features of design and structure should be taken into account when writing it. It seems to me that there are some standard requirements and recommendations that help to make the text more readable and persuasive. For example, how best to structure the content so that it is logically consistent and easy to understand?
